MIL ASADOS makes lighting the fire part of the ritual.

Simple, clean and under control from the start.

For those who take fire seriously, lighting it well is not a detail: it is where the asado begins.

How it works

Three steps
and the fire is yours.

Step 1: soaking the fuel points of the MIL ASADOS Fire Starter with 96% ethyl alcohol01

LOAD

Soak the fuel points with 96% ethyl alcohol.

Step 2: lighting the MIL ASADOS Fire Starter from the loading station02

LIGHT

Light it from the loading station, carefully.

Step 3: placing the MIL ASADOS Fire Starter among the charcoal and letting it work03

PLACE IT AND LET IT WORK

Place it under or among the charcoal or wood. You can build the fire on top of it: it is made to work from the inside.

A tidy way to store your tool, always within reach.

WARNING — Risk of flare-up and severe burns

NEVER refill while hot, even if it looks out.

The alcohol evaporates on contact with the hot metal and the vapour ignites all at once, towards you and towards the bottle.

Refill only when the perforated metal body — not the handle — can be touched with a bare hand.

  • Use only 96% ethyl alcohol.
  • An alcohol flame is nearly invisible in daylight: it can look out when it is not.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Frequently asked questions

What you want to know.

Only if it is cold. The rule is being able to rest a bare hand on the perforated metal body, not on the handle. If it still burns, wait. Refilling while hot can produce a flare-up towards you and towards the alcohol bottle.

An alcohol flame is nearly invisible in daylight, so looking is not enough. Bring the back of your hand close, at a safe distance, to feel the heat, or wait the full burn time. If in doubt, treat it as lit.

Use only 96% ethyl alcohol. Never use methylated or denatured alcohol with additives, gel alcohol, scented bioethanol or bioethanol with additives, petrol, kerosene, white spirit, thinners, barbecue lighter fluid, or any other fuel or accelerant: any of them can cause flare-ups, sprays of burning liquid or an exploding bottle. The full instructions are in the safety guide.

It depends on how long you want the flame to last. As a reference, 100 ml is roughly 7 to 10 minutes of flame.

No. It comes ready to use and is designed to be reused many times.

The safest way is to let the alcohol burn off and the flame go out on its own. Only handle or store it once it is completely cold.

Once out, take it away and leave it beside the grill until it has cooled completely. Never refill while hot, even if it looks out. Put it away only when cold: it keeps better under cover.

It is stainless steel, built to withstand use, heat and repetition. Even so, keeping it in its holder and under cover preserves its looks.

Used correctly with 96% ethyl alcohol, it passes no smell or taste to the meat. The fuel burns off while the fire is being lit, before the meat reaches the grill. Fuel is never applied to the food.

Grill, kamado, fireplace, chimney, wood stove, beach, mountain, camping and anywhere else there is charcoal or wood.
